Northern California’s Rita Hosking sings of forest fires, culture clash, dishes, rivers, black holes and hope.  Her stories, songs and soul-stirring, country-folk voice are partnered with longtime collaborator and versatile multi-instrumentalist, Sean Feder, on dobro, banjo and guitar. Together, they deliver what Acoustic Magazine calls “timeless, unhurried elegance.”

Rita is honored to be a grantee for the Upstate California Creative Corps!

Grantees' projects are designed to increase awareness for issues such as public health, water and energy conservation, climate mitigation, and emergency preparedness, relief and recovery, with extra emphasis on reaching Northern California's most vulnerable communities.

Rita's project is called Climate Country Radio. She'll be writing, producing, recording, distributing and publicizing a collection of what she calls “public service songs” on issues listed above. The plan is that by Spring 2024, you'll be hearing these short, catchy, informational, twangy songs on your radio.

This activity is funded in part by the California Arts Council, a state agency, through the Upstate California Creative Corps program.

Huge thanks to all applicants, the Nevada County Arts Council, the California Arts Council, and the Upstate California Creative Corps.
